Day 15: Grow up and get on

July 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. (Colossians 1:10-12)

10:00 AM – Rolling on with work

Most people hate Mondays. Well, to be honest, I don’t normally look forward to any given Monday so excitedly – unless there is something special about it like Christmas or a first day on a new job. But, it is the day that the LORD has made and we are asked to rejoice. So, I will try to give it my best shot to remember that any new day is a blessing from GOD that I must fill with positivity, good cheer, good mind, and thanksgiving.

Thank You, LORD, for a new day and a new week to start.

10:00 PM – Life is hard and is real; so, grow up and get on with it

It’s been a full day at work with the tasks. I ended up reading more about the Grahams and tried to learn from their lives as well-known Christians.

Yesterday, I spoke to my best friend late at night. She just went through a divorce a few months ago. We talked about her ex-husband who refused to grow up eventhough he dared marry her and had a child together. He didn’t get the idea that as a husband he was the man of the family, the provider, and the protector of his wife and child. College days are long over, but he refuses to grow up out of them.

I guess to a certain extent, I’ve been refusing to grow up myself. I have been selfishly thinking that life is hard on me, GOD is hard on me, people are hard on me. But, I’m in my early thirties. I ought to deal with all the hardship in life.

Yes, life is hard and people can be mean. GOD, in His infinite wisdom, sometimes uses some rough tools to shape characters. But, I am not the only one who’s got to deal with the toughness of life in this fallen world. Everybody has their own struggle. Everybody has their own scars too.

I mentioned to several close friends that the world is full of sick people, sick in the mind and sick in the heart. That is the reality of the fallen world. Then, what now? Well, grow up spiritually. Deal with life’s challenges and stop acting like a spiritually spoiled brat. Make the small difference starting with myself.
